What an offer is

An offer takes money off a sale by a rule the tills work out for themselves. It never changes the price on the shelf, and it is the company's own doing: it does not count towards the discount a cashier is limited to. The till shows each offer on a sale by its name, with what it took off.

The list shows each offer in one line of words, where it stands today (Running, Not started yet, Ended, Used up or Switched off) and how many times it has been used. An offer that is not for every customer is marked Customers on record, A loyalty tier and above or Staff buying for themselves. An offer is switched off, never deleted, so a sale can always say which offer it had.

Setting up an offer

  1. Press New offer and give it a name. The till shows the offer by this name.
  2. Choose its Kind and fill in the figures that kind asks for.
  3. Under Applies to, leave Everything or choose products, categories, brands or families.
  4. Under When and where it runs, add dates, hours, days of the week and stores if it is not for always and everywhere.
  5. On an edition with customers, under Who it is for, leave Every customer or choose who gets it. See An offer for customers below.
  6. Press Add the offer. The tills use it from their next sale.

An offer for customers

On an edition with customers, The offer is for says who gets an offer: Every customer, which is how a new offer starts, Customers on record, or Staff buying for themselves: a customer marked as staff under Retail › Customers, for a staff discount. On the Enterprise edition, once there is at least one loyalty tier, it can also be A loyalty tier and above, with the Loyalty tier chosen: customers on that tier, and on any tier reached at a higher spend. Tiers are set up under Retail › Customers › Loyalty.

An offer for staff applies only to a sale that names a customer marked as staff. Somebody else rings that shopping up: a till does not let a member of staff serve themselves on their own customer record, where it is said which member of staff they are.

The tiers are listed for somebody who may see customers, change them or configure Retail. Anybody else who manages promotions can still make an offer for customers on record, and is told that an offer for a tier is set up by somebody who may see customers.

How offers combine

Offers are tried in order, the lowest number first. One unit of a line is discounted by one offer: once an offer has discounted it, or counted it towards a buy-and-get or a set, the next offer does not see it.

May apply on top of another offer changes that for one offer. It is there only for a percentage off, an amount off each and the two kinds on the whole sale. Switched on, the offer also applies to what an earlier offer has already discounted, on what is left of the price.

A line whose price somebody changed at the till takes no offer. A cashier's own discount is something else: it is given on top, within the cashier's limit, and an offer never uses up that limit.

Coupons

A coupon is a code that unlocks one offer. Open the offer and, under Coupons, type a New code, with how many times it may be used and its dates if you like, and press Add the code. It is added at once. Adding a code switches Needs a coupon on for the offer, so only a sale with one of its codes gets it.

A code is 3 to 40 letters, digits and hyphens, and belongs to one offer. Switch a code off with its switch; it is never deleted. A coupon is checked by Accmerio, so it is not taken while a till is offline.

Trying it on a basket

  1. Press Try it on a basket.
  2. Choose the store and add products with how many of each.
  3. Add a coupon, a date and time to try an offer before its day, or a Customer to try an offer that is for customers, if you like. With no customer, the basket names nobody and an offer for customers is not applied.
  4. Press Price the basket.

The answer shows each line with what the offers took off it, what each offer took off in all, what became of the coupon, and what the customer pays. It is priced by the same code a till uses, and nothing is recorded.

What reaches the books

Nothing from this page. An offer is not posted on its own: a sale that had one posts what was actually charged, so sales in your books are already net of offers. What each offer took off is kept on the sale and counted on the offer.
