Switching to Accmerio
Switch from Tally to Accmerio
Accmerio reads the XML (Data Interchange) export of TallyPrime and Tally.ERP 9, the GCC VAT editions included: ledgers and groups become the chart of accounts, party ledgers become customers and suppliers, and every voucher comes across with its opening balances and bill-wise ageing, checked against Tally's trial balance.
What comes across
Read from Tally's own export
- Chart of accounts
- Customers and suppliers
- Journals and vouchers
- Opening balances
- Receivables ageing
- Payables ageing
Read through column matching that you confirm
- Trial balance
- General ledger
Files Accmerio reads: Tally XML (Data Interchange), Excel (XLSX, XLS) for reports.
What to export from Tally
- Check the period
Open the company in Tally and make sure its period covers the whole history you are moving (Alt+F2 in TallyPrime, F2 in Tally.ERP 9).
- Export the masters
TallyPrime: Gateway of Tally › Export › Masters, format XML (Data Interchange), All Masters, dependent masters Yes, closing balance as opening No. This writes Master.xml.
- Export the vouchers
TallyPrime: Gateway of Tally › Export › Transactions, format XML (Data Interchange), All Vouchers, from the books' beginning to the last voucher. This writes DayBook.xml; a large company can be exported a year at a time.
- From Tally.ERP 9
Display › List of Accounts › Export for the masters, and Display › Day Book › Export for the vouchers, both as XML (Data Interchange), with dependent masters and bill-wise details.
- To prove the move
Export the Trial Balance to Excel as at the day before your start date and at each year end.
- Upload
Upload Master.xml and DayBook.xml together; a ZIP is fine.
What stays behind
- Stock items, quantities and godowns are kept in the archive: Accmerio does not track stock.
- Optional, memorandum and order vouchers stay out of the books, as Tally keeps them.
- TallyPrime's JSON export is not read: choose XML when exporting.
UAE details: From TallyPrime GCC, a party's TRN is read from its ledger and shown to you to confirm.
Tally is a trademark of Tally Solutions. Accmerio is not affiliated with Tally Solutions; the name says which files Accmerio reads.
How the move is checked
Upload what you exported
Accmerio recognises each file and runs a health check: what was found, partly found or missing, and whether it can be proved.
Confirm the columns and the mapping
Check how each column is read and how each account, contact and tax code maps. A 0% VAT code always waits for you: zero-rated, exempt and out of scope are different boxes on the VAT return.
Prove it in a sandbox
Every record is posted in a sandbox and the result is compared with your old system's trial balance and ageing, then rolled back. A difference shows both figures and the likely cause.
Approve, then post
The Owner or an Administrator approves the migration, and only then is it posted into the books. What is not posted, such as drafts and voided documents, stays in a searchable historical archive.
