Recent and Starred
At the top of the dashboard, two thin rows. Recent lists the pages where you last did something — created, changed, posted — newest first, with what you did, the record (an invoice number, a customer's name) and when. Where its page can show that record directly, its name opens it. It includes what you did in the Accmerio: Accounting app on your phone. Starred lists the pages and sections you starred in the sidebar (see Your own menu in Finding your way around).
A page shows once: if it is starred and recent, it is under Recent. Only pages you can open today are listed, and only your own work. Transportation, Agency and Retail have the same two rows on their own dashboards, with what you did and starred in that area alone.
Needs attention
The top panel lists what someone has to do. Empty is the good state, and it says so.
| Item | What it means | Where to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Draft journals not yet posted | Entries saved but not in any report | Journals |
| Depreciation not posted for … | Months whose depreciation charge is missing from the profit and loss | Fixed Assets › Depreciation |
| Asset purchases not on the fixed asset register | Bills or payments coded to a fixed asset account with no asset behind them | Fixed Assets |
| Trial Balance or balance sheet does not balance | Something in the ledger is wrong | Trial Balance; see Troubleshooting |
Not registered for VAT
A company not registered for VAT sees a card at the top once its taxable supplies over the past 12 months reach AED 187,500: from there it can register voluntarily, and above AED 375,000 registration is required and the application is due within 30 days. See how it is worked out opens VAT Return, where the card shows what was counted. See Not registered yet in VAT and the VAT Return.
The figures
Four tiles: cash and bank, what customers owe you, what you owe suppliers, and the VAT position (owed to the FTA, or to be reclaimed).
Profit and Loss, year to date runs from the start of your financial year: revenue, cost of sales, gross profit, operating expenses (with how much of that is depreciation), other income and net profit.
Financial position shows current assets, fixed assets at cost less accumulated depreciation, other non-current assets, liabilities and equity.
Trends and charts
Below the four tiles, six smaller ones show which way the business is moving:
| Tile | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Revenue this month / Expenses this month | This month's figure, and the change against last month. While the month is still running the label says so far and the comparison is with the whole of last month. |
| Gross margin | Gross profit as a percentage of revenue, financial year to date |
| Net margin | Net profit as a percentage of revenue, financial year to date |
| Current ratio | Current assets divided by current liabilities. Above 1 : 1 means what you own short-term covers what you owe short-term. |
| Cash cover | Your cash and bank balance divided by the average monthly expenses of the last three full months. Expenses include depreciation, which is not paid in cash. |
Then the charts:
| Chart | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Revenue and expenses | The last 12 months side by side, by the month each entry is dated. Revenue here excludes other income. |
| Where the money goes | Your largest expense accounts this financial year, each with its share. Smaller accounts are added together as Everything else, so the rows add up to the year's expenses. |
| Cash and bank | The closing balance of your bank and cash accounts at the end of each month |
| Net profit by month | Each month's net profit. A month that made a loss is drawn below the line, in red. |
| Receivables aging / Payables aging | What is owed to you and by you, split by how far past its due date it is, with the amount Overdue, Days to get paid or Days to pay, and the largest balances by customer or supplier |
Hover over or tap a month to read its figures. Table on any chart shows the same figures as a table, and Chart switches back. Open takes you to the report behind the chart.
Cash and bank
The combined cash and bank position as at today. Open Bank Accounts to review individual accounts, or Receipts & Payments to inspect the movements behind the balance.
Owed by customers
The amount still owed by customers. Open the Receivables Aging Report to see which invoices are outstanding and how long they have been due. An invoice and its receipt are separate records: the receipt reduces the amount owed.
Owed to suppliers
The amount still owed to suppliers. Open the Payables Aging Report to review unpaid bills and their due dates before recording a supplier payment.
VAT owed to the FTA
The dashboard shows output VAT less input VAT. A recoverable position changes the tile's label to VAT recoverable. Open VAT Return to review the detailed calculation before taking any filing or payment action.
Profit and Loss, year to date
Read revenue, cost of sales and gross profit first, then operating expenses, other income and net profit. The period starts at your company's financial-year start. Open shows the full report and its date controls.
Financial position
A snapshot of assets, liabilities and equity at the date shown. Fixed Assets show original cost and accumulated depreciation separately. Open takes you to the balance sheet to review the detail.
Ledger
Posted entries count the records that reached the ledger. Total debits and total credits should agree. Open trial balance lists the account balances used to check the books; if checks could not run, the dashboard reports that instead of claiming the ledger balances.
