Reading the report
- Open Purchases › Payables Aging Report. Change As at for another date.
- Each row is a supplier; the columns sort what you owe by how far past due it is.
- Pay what is furthest right first, unless terms or relationships say otherwise.
- To plan a payment run in a spreadsheet, press Download › Excel: the first sheet is the summary by supplier, and Documents lists every bill behind it with its due date, days overdue and what is still outstanding. PDF gives the summary on your letterhead, printed landscape.
After the Total, PDC shows the post-dated cheques you have written to each supplier that the bank has not paid yet, as at the report's date, and Net of PDC what no cheque covers. The cheques are shown beside what you owe and never deducted from it until they clear — see Post-dated Cheques.
It has to agree with the balance sheet
The total equals Accounts Payable (2100) on the balance sheet, and the page says whether it does. A difference means something was posted straight into Accounts Payable by a manual journal instead of through a bill.
